That ultra-crispy crunch with juicy spicy chicken inside? A good copycat of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen style fried chicken is dangerously good. 🍗🔥

The secret is usually:

  • Buttermilk marinade
  • Lots of seasoning in BOTH the marinade and flour
  • Cornstarch in the coating for extra crunch
  • Double dredging
  • Proper oil temperature (around 175°C / 350°F)

Copycat-Style Seasoning Blend

  • Paprika
  • Cayenne
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • White pepper
  • Black pepper
  • Salt
  • Dried thyme & oregano

Quick Method

  1. Marinate chicken in buttermilk + hot sauce + spices for several hours.
  2. Coat in seasoned flour/cornstarch mix.
  3. Dip back into marinade lightly.
  4. Dredge again for craggy crispy bits.
  5. Fry until deep golden and cooked through.
