Classic comfort food with juicy beef patties smothered in rich onion-mushroom gravy.
Ingredients
For the Steaks
- 500 g ground beef
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt & black pepper
For the Gravy
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 1 cup mushrooms (optional)
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Shape into oval patties.
- Brown patties in a skillet for 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, cook onions and mushrooms in butter until soft.
- Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
- Return patties to the pan.
- Simmer 15–20 minutes until gravy thickens and patties are cooked through.
Serve With
- Mashed potatoes
- Rice
- Buttered noodles
- Green beans or peas
