Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ tsp)
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
For Brushing
- 2 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- Activate the yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. - Make the dough
In a large bowl, mix milk, sugar, salt, butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms. - Knead
Knead dough for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. - First rise
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1½ hours until doubled. - Shape the rolls
Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a circle and cut into triangle wedges. Roll each triangle from the wide end toward the tip to form crescents. - Second rise
Place on a baking sheet and let rise 30 minutes. - Bake
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. - Brush with butter
Brush warm rolls with melted butter before serving.
Tips
- Don’t overheat the milk or it can kill the yeast.
- For extra softness, use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour.
- Great served with jam, honey, or dinner meals.
