Banana Bread Brownies are the perfect mix of soft banana bread and chewy blondie-style brownies. Topped with rich brown butter frosting, they turn simple ripe bananas into a bakery-level dessert that’s moist, sweet, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

For Banana Bread Brownies

  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed)

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For Brown Butter Frosting

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Ingredient Notes

  • Very ripe bananas give the best sweetness and moisture.
  • Brown butter adds a nutty, caramel-like flavor to the frosting.

Instructions

1. Make Banana Brownie Batter

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix mashed bananas, melted butter, and brown sugar.
  3. Add egg and vanilla, whisk until smooth.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into pan and spread evenly.

2. Bake

  1. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Let cool before frosting.

3. Make Brown Butter Frosting

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Cook until golden brown and nutty in aroma, then remove from heat.
  3. Let cool slightly.
  4. Whisk in powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and salt until smooth and creamy.

4. Frost & Serve

  1. Spread frosting over cooled brownies.
  2. Slice into squares and serve.
