This slow-cooked pepper steak is tender, flavorful, and simmered in a rich tomato sauce with sweet peppers and savory seasonings. It’s the perfect cozy meal for busy days and tastes even better the next day.
Ingredients
- 700 g beef steak strips or stew beef
- 2 bell peppers (red & green), sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
- 2 tbsp oil

- A splash of cream for richer sauce
Instructions
1. Brown the Beef
- Toss beef with flour, salt, and pepper.
- Heat oil in a skillet.
- Sear beef until browned on all sides.
2. Build the Sauce
- Add onions and garlic to the pan.
- Cook until fragrant.
- Stir in tomato paste, tomato sauce, broth, soy sauce, paprika, and Italian seasoning.
3. Slow Cook
Slow Cooker Method
- Transfer everything to a slow cooker.
- Add sliced peppers.
- Cook on:
- Low: 6–8 hours
- High: 3–4 hours
Stovetop Method
- Cover and simmer on low heat for about 1½–2 hours until beef is tender.
4. Serve
