Posted on May 16, 2026

What You Need

  • Fresh corn on the cob
  • Large pot of water
  • Butter and salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the corn
Remove husks and silk from the corn. Rinse briefly.
  2. Boil water
Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil.
  3. Cook the corn
Carefully add the corn to the boiling water.
  4. Boiling time

    • Fresh tender corn: 3–5 minutes
    • Larger or older corn: 6–8 minutes

The kernels should turn bright yellow and become tender.

  5. Serve
Remove with tongs and serve hot with butter, salt, pepper, or your favorite toppings.

Optional Flavor Add-Ins

  • Sugar for sweeter corn
  • Milk and butter in the boiling water for richer flavor
  • Chili powder, lime, and cheese for Mexican-style corn inspiration

Quick Tip

Avoid overcooking — corn can become chewy if boiled too long.
