Apple Chocolate Chip Cake

Ingredients
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (110 g) brown sugar
- ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour an 8-inch or 9-inch cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, sugars, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix just until combined.
- Fold in the diced apples, chocolate chips, and nuts if using.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Optional Topping
- Dust with powdered sugar, or
- Drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and a little milk.
