Ingredients

For the Salad

  • 2 large cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • ½ medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Creamy Dressing

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cucumbers

  1. Slice the cucumbers and onions thinly.
  2. Place them in a large bowl and sprinkle with ½ teaspoon salt.
  3. Let sit for 20–30 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
  4. Drain and pat dry with paper towels.

Step 2: Make the Dressing

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Assemble the Salad

  1. Add the cucumbers, onions, and dill to the dressing.
  2. Toss gently until everything is evenly coated.

Step 4: Chill

  1. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  2. Stir again before serving for the best flavor.
