Ingredients
For the Pie
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 refrigerated pie crust or homemade pie dough
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 20–25 pepperoni slices (optional)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional Toppings
- Sliced mushrooms
- Bell peppers
- Black olives
- Cooked sausage
- Red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
- Season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Press the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
- Spread half of the mozzarella over the bottom of the crust.
- Add the beef mixture in an even layer.
- Spoon the pizza sauce over the beef.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella, cheddar cheese, and pepperoni.
- Add any additional toppings you like.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
Tips
- Pre-bake the crust for 8 minutes if you prefer an extra-crispy bottom.
- Add a layer of sautéed mushrooms and peppers for a deluxe pizza version.
- Use a deep-dish pie plate for a thicker, heartier pie.
