Soft, fluffy, buttery, and slightly sweet, these homemade Texas Roadhouse-style rolls are perfect for family dinners, holidays, or whenever you’re craving warm bakery-fresh bread. Serve them with cinnamon honey butter for the full restaurant experience!

Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 1¼ cups warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 to 4½ cups all-purpose flour

For Brushing

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Cinnamon Honey Butter

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

  1. Pour the warm milk into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Stir in the sugar and yeast.
  3. Let stand for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Step 2: Make the Dough

  1. Add the egg, melted butter, and salt.
  2. Gradually mix in the flour, one cup at a time.
  3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 3: First Rise

  1. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl.
  2. Cover with a clean towel.
  3. Let rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 4: Shape the Rolls

  1. Punch down the dough.
  2. Roll it out to about ½-inch thickness.
  3. Cut into rectangles or squares.
  4. Place on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between each roll.

Step 5: Second Rise

  1. Cover the rolls loosely.
  2. Let rise for 30–40 minutes until puffy.

Step 6: Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until lightly golden on top.
  3. Immediately brush with melted butter.

Cinnamon Honey Butter

  1. In a small bowl, beat together softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon until smooth and creamy.
  2. Serve alongside the warm rolls.

Tips for Perfect Rolls

  • Use warm—not hot—milk to avoid killing the yeast.
  • Measure flour carefully; too much flour can make the rolls dense.
  • Let the dough rise in a draft-free, warm location.
  • Brush with butter while hot for the signature soft crust.
