Ingredients
- 1 box jumbo pasta shells
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley or basil
- 2–3 cups marinara sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Add-ins
- Cooked ground beef or Italian sausage
- Spinach (sautéed and drained)
- Garlic powder or Italian seasoning
Instructions
1. Cook the Shells
- Boil shells in salted water until just al dente.
- Drain and rinse with cool water so they’re easier to handle.
2. Make the Filling
In a bowl, mix:
- Ricotta
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella
- Parmesan
- Egg
- Herbs
- Salt and pepper
3. Fill the Shells
- Spread about 1 cup marinara sauce in a baking dish.
- Spoon cheese mixture into each shell and place in the dish.
4. Top & Bake
- Pour remaining sauce over shells.
- Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
- Uncover and bake 10 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
