Crispy Fried Green Tomatoes πŸ”₯πŸ…

Ingredients

  • 3–4 firm green tomatoes
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • Β½ cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ΒΌ cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Β½ tsp black pepper
  • Β½ tsp paprika
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

1. Slice the Tomatoes

Cut green tomatoes into ΒΌ-inch slices.

Pat dry with paper towels.

2. Prepare Coating Stations

Bowl 1

Flour mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika.

Bowl 2

Whisked eggs and milk.

Bowl 3

Cornmeal.

3. Coat the Tomatoes

Dip slices into:

  1. Flour
  2. Egg mixture
  3. Cornmeal

Press lightly so coating sticks well.

4. Fry

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Fry tomatoes 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Drain on paper towels.

  • Spicy mayo
  • Remoulade
  • Garlic aioli
  • Hot honey drizzle

Tips for Extra Crispiness

  • Use firm, unripe tomatoes
  • Let coated slices rest 5 minutes before frying

  • Serve immediately while hot
