Crispy Fried Green Tomatoes π₯π
Ingredients
- 3β4 firm green tomatoes
- 1 cup cornmeal
- Β½ cup flour
- 2 eggs
- ΒΌ cup milk or buttermilk
- 1 tsp salt
- Β½ tsp black pepper
- Β½ tsp paprika
- Oil for frying
Instructions
1. Slice the Tomatoes
Cut green tomatoes into ΒΌ-inch slices.
Pat dry with paper towels.
2. Prepare Coating Stations
Bowl 1
Flour mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Bowl 2
Whisked eggs and milk.
Bowl 3
Cornmeal.
3. Coat the Tomatoes
Dip slices into:
- Flour
- Egg mixture
- Cornmeal
Press lightly so coating sticks well.
4. Fry
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry tomatoes 2β3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Drain on paper towels.
