🧾 Ingredients
- 3–4 firm green tomatoes
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk or buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- Oil for frying
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Slice the tomatoes
Cut green tomatoes into ¼-inch slices. Pat dry with paper towels.
2. Set up dredging stations
- Bowl 1: flour
- Bowl 2: eggs + milk whisked together
- Bowl 3: cornmeal, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and paprika
3. Coat the tomatoes
Dip each slice into:
- Flour
- Egg mixture
- Cornmeal mixture
Press lightly so the coating sticks well.
4. Fry
Heat about ½ inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry tomato slices 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Transfer to paper towels or a wire rack.
