Ingredients
- 300–400g roast beef slices (thinly sliced)
- 2–4 sandwich rolls or hoagie buns
- 4–6 slices cheddar cheese (or provolone)
- 1 small onion, sliced (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter or oil
- Salt & black pepper
- Optional sauces: mayo, horseradish sauce, mustard
Optional Au Jus (for dipping)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Pinch of black pepper
Instructions
1. Warm the Beef
- Heat a pan with a little butter or oil.
- Add onions and cook until soft (optional).
- Add roast beef slices just to warm through (don’t overcook).
- Season lightly with salt and pepper.
2. Melt the Cheese
- Place cheese over the warm beef in the pan.
- Cover for 1–2 minutes until melted and gooey.
3. Toast the Bread
- Slice rolls and toast lightly in a pan or oven.
- Optional: spread butter or garlic butter for extra flavor.
4. Assemble Sandwich
- Load cheesy beef into the roll.
- Add sauces if desired.
Optional Au Jus
- Simmer all ingredients for 3–5 minutes.
- Serve warm for dipping the sandwich.
