Sweet Potato Pie
Ingredients
- 2 medium Sweet Potato, cooked and mashed (about 2 cups)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- 1 unbaked pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and mash the cooked sweet potatoes until smooth.
- In a large bowl, mix mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, butter, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla.
- Stir in cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Pour filling into the pie crust.
- Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until the center is set.
- Let cool before serving.
Optional Toppings
- Whipped cream
- Toasted pecans
- A sprinkle of cinnamon
For a classic Southern-style version, many bakers also add a little brown sugar or a dash of ginger for extra warmth.
