Easy Big Fat Yeast Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter, egg, and salt.
- Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
- Punch down dough and divide into 12–15 pieces.
- Shape into rolls and place in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush tops with melted butter while warm.
Tips
- For softer rolls, avoid adding too much flour.
- You can substitute part of the milk with buttermilk for richer flavor.
- These rolls freeze well after baking.
