Crockpot Steak & Potato “Mega” Melt

Crockpot Steak & Potato Mega Melt is a slow-cooked, ultra-comforting dish made with tender beef, soft potatoes, and rich melted cheese. Everything cooks together in the crockpot until the meat is juicy and the flavors blend into a hearty, cheesy, restaurant-style meal.

Equipment

  • Crockpot / slow cooker
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Skillet (optional for searing)
  • Mixing spoon

Ingredients

  • 1.5–2 lbs beef steak (sirloin or chuck), cut into chunks
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Ingredient Notes

  • Chuck steak becomes extra tender after slow cooking.
  • Cheddar gives strong flavor, mozzarella adds stretchiness.
  • You can add mushrooms or bell peppers for extra taste.

Instructions

1. Optional Searing (for better flavor)

  1. Heat a skillet with a little oil.
  2. Sear steak pieces until browned on all sides.

2. Add to Crockpot

  1. Place potatoes, onions, garlic, and steak in the crockpot.
  2. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix gently.

3. Slow Cook

  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until beef is tender and potatoes are soft.

4. Add Cheese

  1. Stir in butter.
  2. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella on top.
  3. Cover and cook for another 10–15 minutes until melted and gooey.

5. Serve

  1. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
