Magic Tomato Salad
Ingredients
- 4–5 ripe tomatoes, cut into wedges or chunks
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, grated or minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
- 1 tsp honey or sugar
- Fresh basil, cilantro, or parsley
- Chili flakes or black pepper
- Flaky salt
Optional:
- Cucumber
- Feta
- Avocado
- Toasted sesame seeds
Method
- Slice the tomatoes and onion and place in a bowl.
- Mix olive oil, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and honey into a dressing.
- Pour over the tomatoes and toss gently.
- Let it sit 10–20 minutes so the tomatoes release their juices.
- Finish with herbs, chili flakes, and flaky salt.
The “magic” is the combo of:
- tomato juice + soy sauce
- garlic + acid
- resting time
It creates a naturally rich dressing at the bottom of the bowl that’s perfect with crusty bread or rice.
Variations
- Add burrata for a richer version
- Use chili crisp for heat
- Add peaches or strawberries for sweetness
- Try smoked salt for extra depth
