Meatloaf is a classic comfort-food dish made from seasoned ground meat shaped into a loaf and baked until tender and flavorful.

Ingredients (Serves 6)

Meatloaf

  • 2 lb (900 g) ground beef (80–85% lean)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Glaze

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, eggs, milk, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and parsley.
  3. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
  6. Spread half of the glaze over the meatloaf.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Spread the remaining glaze on top and continue baking for 15–20 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  9. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  • For extra moisture, use a mix of ground beef and ground pork.
