Ingredients
- 300–400g thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin)
- 1 large sub roll or hoagie bun
- 1/2 onion, sliced
- 1/2 bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 cup mushrooms (optional but classic)
- 2–3 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 1–2 tbsp butter or oil
- Salt & black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Optional: mayo, hot sauce, or mustard
Instructions
1. Cook the Veggies
- Heat butter or oil in a pan.
- Sauté onions, peppers, and mushrooms until soft and slightly caramelized.
- Remove and set aside.
2. Cook the Steak
- In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.
- Cook sliced steak quickly over high heat (2–4 minutes).
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
3. Combine & Melt Cheese
- Return veggies to the pan with steak.
- Mix together and lay cheese slices on top.
- Cover for 1–2 minutes until cheese melts.
4. Assemble Sandwich
- Toast the sub roll lightly (optional but recommended).
- Fill with the cheesy steak and veggie mixture.
- Add sauces if desired.

Tip
For that classic “sub shop” flavor, toast the bread with garlic butter before filling it—it makes a huge difference.
