Ingredients
Filling
- 500g ground beef (or lamb)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot (optional, finely diced)
- 1/2 cup peas (optional)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp flour (for thickening)
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
Crust
- 2 sheets puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
1. Make the Filling
- Cook onion and garlic in a pan until soft.
- Add ground beef and brown it well.
- Stir in carrot and peas (if using).
- Add tomato paste, flour, and seasoning.
- Pour in broth and simmer until thick.
- Let filling cool completely.
2. Assemble the Pie
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Line a pie dish with one sheet of puff pastry.
- Add cooled meat filling.
- Cover with second pastry sheet.
- Seal edges and cut small slits on top.
- Brush with beaten egg.
3. Bake
- Bake for 30–40 minutes until golden and crisp.
