Old Fashioned Buttermilk Pie 🥧
Ingredients
Filling
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- 1½ cups sugar
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Pinch of salt
- Nutmeg for topping (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Place pie crust into a pie dish.
2. Make the Filling
Whisk together:
- sugar
- melted butter
- eggs
Add:
- buttermilk
- flour
- vanilla
- lemon juice
- salt
Whisk until smooth.
3. Fill & Bake
Pour filling into the pie crust.
Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg if desired.
Bake 45–55 minutes until the center is mostly set with a slight jiggle.
4. Cool
Allow pie to cool completely before slicing.
The filling will continue to set as it cools.

- Top with whipped cream
